Pagliacci is the title character of an opera about a clown who murders his wife and the fellow performer who made a cuckold of him. It's an iconic tragedy, and a really good opera! It was also the name of a fake Italian restaurant I was creating. But then I realized that the abstraction of Pagliacci's makeup would work better as a line of costume greasepaint and cosmetics.
